Togo: Wassim Nasr, a French journalist on a mission against the FAT and the country’s sovereignty
Wassim Nasr has once again set his sights on Togo, seemingly intent on discrediting the Togolese Armed Forces (FAT) and easing the way for destabilizing forces. Known for his inconsistent and often dubious stances, Nasr recently released a video on social media, portraying the FAT as unprepared to handle security threats.
But how could he have witnessed Togolese forces retreating from any conflict in the northern region, unless the footage was part of a staged effort to damage their reputation?
Unwilling to follow the underhanded tactics often used by detractors in the region, Togo stands as a target for Nasr, who views it as fertile ground for manipulation.
Credible sources suggest that he has been tasked with laying the groundwork for foreign interests, escalating disinformation efforts as the year draws to a close—a tactic African nations have come to recognize.
In response to Nasr’s narrative, Togolese authorities must remain vigilant against the schemes of this so-called “journalist.”
His video, clearly a fabricated account, aims to shape public and global opinion, suggesting that the FAT lacks the strength to counter terrorist groups.
Such baseless assessments reveal the agenda behind Nasr’s work: undermining Togo’s security strategies and progress in safeguarding its territory.
Despite his attempts to incite fear and sow doubt, Nasr disregards the reality that the Togolese Armed Forces are resilient, well-prepared, and unwavering in their commitment to counter jihadist threats.
His disinformation campaigns fall flat in the face of their dedication and capability.
