Burkina Faso: Travel Agencies contribute over 24 Million FCFA to the Patriot Support Fund
In a strong show of solidarity and patriotism, Burkina Faso’s travel agencies have answered President Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s call by generously contributing to the Patriot Support Fund. This fund aids defense and security forces in their battle against terrorism.
A significant contribution
On Tuesday, October 29, 2024, it was officially announced that approximately 70% of the country’s travel agencies contributed a total of 24,535,130 FCFA to support peace efforts.
This donation underscores the private sector’s commitment to national security, which is crucial for their industry.
Issa Dianda, representing the donor agencies, explained, “We wanted to come together to support the call made by the head of state to contribute to the Patriot Support Fund. Security is essential to our work, particularly in accompanying pilgrims to remote areas.”
Encouraging further contributions
The Minister of Territorial Administration, who received the donation on behalf of the government, expressed gratitude for this significant gesture and encouraged all agencies, whether they have contributed or not, to continue supporting the Patriot Support Fund.
This fund, created to back national security efforts, is fuelled by regular contributions from donors across the country, ensuring sustained financial support for the nation’s security forces in their mission to reclaim and secure territory.
