Ivory Coast: Energy drinks, a matter of taste and energy that consumers lack and weaken the economy

Energy drinks have gained popularity over the years in African societies. Many people have made these their preferred beverages due to their pleasant flavors and their content of natural and energizing products. They are often offered at joyous gatherings and in local bars.

Composed of ingredients such as sugar, caffeine, amino acids, vitamins, and plant extracts, these drinks provide the energy and vitality that consumers seek. Unfortunately, today in places like Côte d’Ivoire, loyal consumers of these products lament their disappearance from the market.

To recall, several months ago, certain brands of energy drinks were removed from commercial circulation. This decision was intended to address a public health concern but has proven ineffective, failing to solve the underlying issue.

In addition to consumers, merchants have complained about a loss of income since the implementation of this decision, disrupting their economic activities. According to some citizens, Ivorian authorities should reconsider their decision and conduct a more thorough investigation into the persistent health issues related to the consumption of these drinks.

This would be a way to do justice to the merchants, allowing them to revive their economy, as this beverage trade had become a significant business for them.
