Togo/Climate Challenges: Togo shares experiences and becomes more committed to environmental protection

Present in Brazzaville, the capital of the Republic of Congo, for the first international conference on afforestation and reforestation, the President of the Togolese National Assembly, Kodjo Adedze, outlined the various actions taken by Togolese authorities in the protection of the environment and the fight against climate change.

As a reminder, for several years, the Togolese government, under the leadership of President Faure GNASSINGBE, has initiated numerous projects aimed at minimizing the consequences of human activity on the Togolese environment and restoring forests across the national territory. The President of the Togolese Parliament specifically highlighted the national forest cover expansion project.

He also mentioned the government’s efforts in restoring degraded landscapes, which will continue until 2030. The annual massive reforestation campaign, ongoing for decades and aiming to plant one billion trees by 2030, as well as the establishment of cantonal and communal forests, were presented to the participants of this international meeting.

By committing to strengthening its actions in this regard, Togo has called for enhanced international cooperation for afforestation and reforestation to effectively combat climate change and preserve ecosystems. It is worth noting that this conference was initiated by the President of the Republic of Congo, Denis Sassou N’Guesso.
