Sports: Morocco heads to paris 2024 Olympics after winning African Beach Volleyball Championship

The Moroccan men’s beach volleyball team has secured its place at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games by winning the African Championship in Martil. Zouheir Elgraoui and Mohamed Abicha led the team to victory in the final against Mozambique, dominating with scores of 21-18 and 21-12. This victory solidifies the position of Morocco as a leader in men’s beach volleyball in Africa, having won all their matches during the tournament.

Meanwhile, Egypt secured its qualification in the women’s category by defeating Nigeria, while the Moroccan women’s team took third place after losing in the semifinals to Egypt. Bouchra Hajij, president of the Royal Moroccan Volleyball Federation, highlighted the significance of this consecutive qualification for Morocco and expressed the ambition to perform well at the Olympic Games, aiming to honor not only Moroccan beach volleyball but also the sport across the entire African continent.

Player Zouheir Elgraoui acknowledged the difficulty of this victory, emphasizing the progress of the participating teams and the Moroccan team’s determination to excel in Paris. This championship, held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, brought together the best African teams and marks a pivotal moment for continental beach volleyball.

In addition to hosting this qualification event, Martil is also hosting the African Under-19 Beach Volleyball Championship, a qualifying event for the World Championship in China, underscoring Morocco’s ongoing commitment to developing the sport at all levels.
