Burkina Faso: Under President Ibrahim Traoré’s leadership, RN2 begins expansion and modernization

In the framework of President Ibrahim Traoré’s ongoing efforts to improve road infrastructure and enhance connectivity in Burkina Faso, a landmark project has just been launched. On Saturday, June 15, 2024, in Ouagadougou, the expansion and modernization of National Road No. 2 (RN2) began. This initiative aims to improve traffic flow, enhance road safety, and promote harmonious urban development.

Prime Minister Dr. Apollinaire Joachimson Kyélem de Tambèla officially inaugurated the construction work on the RN2. This ambitious project concerns the stretch from the Youth Roundabout to the bypass road, covering a length of 15.9 km with a 2×2 lane configuration. An interchange will also be constructed at the Rimkieta crossing.

With a total cost of 70.491.653.274 CFA francs, including all taxes and controls, this project is financed by VISTA BANK and Burkinabe state resources. Scheduled to be completed within six months, excluding the rainy season, this strategic project will ensure a quick link between the city center and the suburbs.

The modernization of the RN2 represents a significant advancement for transportation infrastructure in Burkina Faso, realizing President Traoré’s vision for safer mobility and better connectivity for the Burkinabe people.
