Cameroon / Football: Marc Brys absent from first meeting with Fecafoot

The new coach of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, Marc Brys, was notably absent this Friday, May 10th, at a first meeting scheduled with his new bosses from the Fecafoot.

Finally recognized by the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot) since Tuesday evening as the legitimate coach, Marc Brys had a first appointment with the officials of the institution this Friday.

While he was expected at 11 a.m. local time at the Federation headquarters with his staff for an introductory meeting with the National Technical Directorate and the general coordination of the national teams, the Belgian chose to be absent… Just like his two assistants Joachim Mununga and Giannis Xilouris. Among the few staff members present, we found the locals Ndtoungou Mpile Martin and David Pagou… appointed by the Fecafoot on Tuesday.

This absence at a meeting supposed to initiate reconciliation raises many questions. Is this necessarily a sign of defiance ? Not necessarily. On one hand, it’s not illogical that Brys would want to first meet with the president of Fecafoot, Samuel Eto’o, before holding such a meeting.

And above all, the Belgian is expected at 3 p.m. local time at the conference room of the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaoundé to unveil his first list of players called up for the matches against Cape Verde and Angola in June in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. The most optimistic may therefore see this absence as a simple scheduling conflict…
