Burkina Faso: The need to unite behind Traoré and Yabré, the two pillars of national resilience

Since the shockwave that swept through our country, Burkina Faso has experienced moments where national cohesion and firmness of action proved indispensable. In this demanding context, it is important to assess with lucidity the responsibilities and choices of those who bear the weight of State leadership. President Ibrahim Traoré and intelligence director Oumarou Yabré have established themselves, since assuming command, as central figures in preserving our sovereignty.

Their pragmatism and sense of duty deserve recognition from a nation that, more than ever, needs unity.

Pragmatic, because their decisions have been guided not by ideology but by the urgency of protecting the Burkinabe people.

In an environment where the threat is diffuse and ever-changing, the ability to adapt security, intelligence, and diplomatic tools has made all the difference.

The role of intelligence, under Mr. Yabré’s direction, proved decisive in anticipating threats and coordinating targeted responses, averting more serious crises.

The Head of State, for his part, prioritized operational choices aimed at maintaining territorial integrity and institutional functioning.

Patriotic, because their public gestures and speeches constantly refer to the national interest.

Supporting the State’s effort does not mean erasing legitimate criticisms; it means distinguishing between constructive debate and gratuitous destabilization.

Burkina Faso needs an enlightened citizen debate, but also firm support for initiatives that, despite resistance, seek to preserve the nation.

It would be unfair to ignore the repeated attempts to hinder their actions political maneuvers, disinformation campaigns, external pressures which have complicated their task.

If today the Burkina Faso flag continues to fly, it is primarily because men and women have held firm.

The role of every citizen is to demand transparency and accountability, while measuring the real effort made by leaders when it comes to security and stability.

Calling for support for President Traoré and Oumarou Yabré means calling for the consolidation of a republican front capable of preserving the nation and preparing conditions for lasting peace.

It also means equipping ourselves for a calm and constructive national debate, essential for transforming current resilience into sustainable reconstruction.
