OUAGADOUGOU — On Monday, April 6, 2026, President of the People’s Legislative Assembly (ALP) Ousmane Bougouma presided over the traditional flag-raising ceremony held on the first Monday of each month at the parliament in Ouagadougou.

The solemn event brought together all parliamentary staff and featured military protocol and a public performance of the national anthem.

In his message, the head of state called on all Burkinabe to consume local products. “Let us consume what we produce and produce what we consume,” he said, urging citizens to embrace a genuine culture of food sovereignty.

He also warned against insidious forms of imperialism, which he said extend beyond political or economic interference to “invade our plates and our mindset.”

Bougouma relayed Traoré’s warning: “The enemy is everywhere. He is that dishonest trader who imports fraudulent products to sell them in Burkina Faso.” The message highlighted the agricultural potential of the country, including rice production from the Bagré growth pole, Sanmendeni, and the Sourou Valley.

Through the ceremony, the ALP demonstrated its commitment to patriotism and economic independence.
