Premier League: Salah to leave Liverpool at season’s end
Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has announced he will depart the club when his contract expires this summer. The 33-year-old Egyptian, who joined in 2017, confirmed the news in a social media video, calling it “the first part of my farewell.”
Salah signed a two‑year extension in April 2025 but will now leave on a free transfer after the club said an agreement over his future had been reached. This season has been difficult for the prolific scorer, with 10 goals in 34 games—on course for his lowest tally at Anfield.
In his farewell message, Salah hailed Liverpool as “not just a football club” but “a passion, a history, a spirit,” thanking fans for standing by him “through the best time of my career.”
During nine years on Merseyside, Salah helped Liverpool win two Premier League titles, the Champions League, an FA Cup and two EFL Cups. With 255 goals in 435 appearances, he ranks third on the club’s all‑time scorers list.
Liverpool said full celebrations for his legacy will come later, adding that Salah remains focused on the season’s remaining challenges, including a Champions League quarter‑final against Paris St‑Germain.
