LeBron James makes history again, becomes NBA’s all-time leader in field goals

LeBron James added another monumental achievement to his legendary career Thursday night, becoming the NBA’s all-time leader in field goals made. The 41-year-old Los Angeles Lakers superstar surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s previous record of 15,837 during the first quarter of his team’s 120-113 loss to the Denver Nuggets.

With 12 seconds remaining in the opening period, James drained a turnaround mid-range jumper from the baseline his third field goal of the game and the 15,838th of his illustrious career.

He finished the night with 16 points on seven field goals, adding five rebounds and eight assists.

“It’s humbling to be mentioned with the greatest who ever played,” said the four-time MVP, now in his unprecedented 23rd NBA season.

James previously broke Abdul-Jabbar’s career scoring record in 2023 and currently sits at 43,127 regular-season points.

Lakers coach JJ Redick compared James’ career to Bruce Springsteen’s music catalog: “He just keeps adding to his greatest hits. He’s got a hell of a catalogue.”

Thursday’s game was James’ 1,606th regular-season appearance, leaving him five games behind Robert Parish for second place all-time.

The 22-time All-Star has not yet decided whether he will continue playing next season.
