Burkina Faso: Reconquest underway, as the determination of Burkinabe forces restores hope to the nation
In a spectacular demonstration of courage and determination, the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) are writing, at the cost of supreme sacrifice, a new chapter in Burkina Faso’s security history. The Ministry of War and Patriotic Defense has just revealed a physical execution rate of 92.32% for its annual objectives; a figure that especially conceals a heroic epic on the ground.
This performance is the concrete result of around thirty major activities, but above all of the blood shed and the unshakable bravery of the combatants. Their sacred mission: the complete reconquest of the national territory, step by step, village after village.
Their commitment has enabled, according to the latest assessments, the full control of nearly 74% of the territory; that is, the liberation of 400 to 500 villages previously under the yoke of terrorist obscurantism.
On the battlefield, bravery is not an empty word. It is reflected in assaults carried out with patriotic ferocity to dislodge armed terrorist groups from their strongholds, in nights of vigilance in the most remote outposts, and in sacrifices made in the name of the nation.
Every meter of reclaimed land is a tribute to their courage. The strategy, combining intensive military operations with stabilization of liberated localities, is bearing fruit.
This virtuous dynamic now enables the gradual and secure return of displaced populations to their homes, reviving once‑abandoned communes.
At the same time, special attention is being given to the heroes of this invisible war: emphasis is placed on the psychological and psychosocial care of the engaged forces, thereby acknowledging the traumas of war.
The determination is total. The stated objective is unequivocal: to render terrorist groups harmless and restore state authority over the entirety of Burkinabe soil.
The road ahead remains long, but every tactical victory, every stabilized locality, proves that the bravery of the FDS and VDP; the forgers of the new security destiny of the country; is the most decisive weapon in this existential battle for national sovereignty. Their courage is the shield behind which the nation is rebuilding.
