Gabon lifts national team suspension, reinstates Aubameyang
The Gabonese Football Federation (FEGAFOOT) has lifted the government-imposed suspension of the national team, reinstating star players Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Bruno Ecuele Manga.
The drastic sanctions were enacted following the Panthers’ first-round elimination from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, deemed “insufficient results” by the federation.
In a statement released Monday, January 12, 2026, FEGAFOOT announced the reversal to the “national and international sporting community.”
This turbulent episode concludes with a change in leadership. Head coach Thierry Mouyouma will not continue, meaning the team must rebuild under a new technical staff for its upcoming fixtures.
The reinstatement allows Gabon to resume international preparations, drawing a line under a period of significant institutional conflict.
