Cameroon / President Paul Biya’s initiative for food self-sufficiency: A challenge taken up by dynamic young people

At the instruction of President Paul Biya, Cameroon has launched an ambitious food self-sufficiency policy, with the primary objective of strengthening the country’s food security while preserving the environment. This policy is placed at the heart of the agricultural sector development strategy and is supported by a young and dynamic team working actively for its implementation.

The Cameroonian agricultural sector, long dominated by traditional practices, has undergone a genuine revolution thanks to the introduction of second-generation agriculture.

This new approach, based on innovation and sustainability, aims to improve productivity while respecting ecological standards.

Young people, especially those from rural areas, are at the center of this transformation, benefiting from new professional opportunities and better access to modern agricultural technologies.

This agricultural revolution is accompanied by a set of incentive measures aimed at attracting young talent to the sector.

Training and financing programs have been established, enabling many young farmers to embark on large-scale projects.

The goal is to make Cameroon self-sufficient in food and reduce dependence on imports.

Finally, this food self-sufficiency policy is not only about production but also about preservation.

Sustainable and environmentally respectful agriculture holds a central place in the presidential strategy, thereby contributing to the protection of ecosystems and the management of the natural resources of the country.

Paul Biya and his team aspire for Cameroon to become a model for sustainable agricultural development in Africa.
