PSG’s Champions League nightmare: Defeat and double injury blow against Bayern

Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League hopes suffered a devastating blow Tuesday with a 2-1 home defeat to Bayern Munich compounded by two key injuries. The French champions saw both Ousmane Dembélé and Achraf Hakimi forced off in a disastrous first half at Parc des Princes.

Bayern stunned the hosts early as Luis Díaz opened scoring in the 4th minute, capitalizing on Serge Gnabry’s initial saved effort.

The situation worsened when Díaz struck again in the 32nd minute after capitalizing on a Marquinhos error.

PSG’s night unraveled further as Dembélé departed after 25 minutes before Hakimi left in tears following a reckless challenge from Díaz – who received a red card just before halftime.

Despite their numerical advantage, PSG struggled to break down Bayern’s organized defense until  the spectacular volley  of  João Neves from Kang-in Lee’s cross reduced the deficit in the 74th minute.

The late consolation couldn’t mask a concerning evening for PSG, who now face significant absences alongside their group stage setback.
