Burkina Faso: Transitional Legislative Assembly adopts two key pieces of legislation on budget transparency

On Tuesday, October 14, 2025, the Transitional Legislative Assembly (ALT) adopted two major bills, marking a new step in consolidating Burkina Faso’s financial governance. These are the bill for the final settlement of the 2024 state budget and the supplementary finance law for the 2025 fiscal year.

Presented by Madame Fatoumata Bako/Traoré, the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy, Finance, and Foresight, these texts aim to strengthen transparency, accountability, and rigor in the management of public resources.

Regarding the 2024 budget settlement bill, the minister stated that it is part of an accountability process, allowing the government to present to the national assembly a report on the execution of the previous year’s budget.

According to her, this approach demonstrates the political will of the government to maintain exemplary and responsible public management, despite the difficult security and economic context.

As for the 2025 supplementary finance law, it addresses the need to adjust the state’s initial budget forecasts to the current economic realities and the evolution of national priorities, particularly in the sectors of security, rural development, health, and economic resilience.
