Guinness World Record: Hilda Baci sets new world record with massive jollof rice creation

Nigerian culinary star Hilda Baci has secured another Guinness World Record, this time for cooking the world’s largest pot of jollof rice. The Guinness World Records officially confirmed her achievement after she prepared a staggering 8,780kg of the beloved West African dish in Lagos.

The nine-hour cooking marathon nearly ended in disaster when the custom-made 23,000-liter steel pot buckled twice during weighing, requiring crane assistance.

Despite the structural challenges, no rice was lost, and verification footage was submitted to GWR for official recognition.

Baci’s record-breaking recipe incorporated 4,000kg of rice, 500 cartons of tomato paste, 600kg of onions, and 168kg of goat meat.

A team of 10 chefs in red uniforms helped stir the massive creation using long wooden spoons, while thousands of spectators gathered to witness the attempt.

The celebration extended beyond the record itself, as the enormous dish was distributed among the crowd and local community members.

This marks the second world record achievement of Hilda Baci. In 2023, she previously held the longest cooking marathon title at 93 hours and 11 minutes, though she was later surpassed.

The current marathon cooking record belongs to Australia’s Evette Quoibia at 140 hours and 11 minutes.

“This win belongs to all of us,” Baci declared, crediting her team and supporters for the historic accomplishment.
