Togo and Ghana strengthen Telecom coordination at Bilateral spectrum meeting

The telecommunications regulator of Togo, ARCEP, participated in a key bilateral frequency coordination meeting with the National Communications Authority (NCA) of Ghana in Accra from September 9–11, 2025. The meeting underscored growing regional efforts to address technical and operational challenges in the telecommunications sector.
With digital usage rapidly expanding and advanced technologies being deployed, both countries focused on resolving issues such as signal interference and spectrum overlap resulting from their geographic proximity.
Togo’s delegation head, Awutey Dodji Sylvanus, emphasized the need to update coordination frameworks to improve service quality, aligning with International Telecommunication Union (ITU) recommendations and ECOWAS guidelines.

Major mobile operators including Moov and Yas Togo also attended, highlighting the strategic importance of these talks for securing investments and meeting consumer expectations.
The meeting took place amid the recent implementation of free roaming agreements between Togo and Ghana; a sign of deepening regional integration. However, a report published in April noted persistent disparities in roaming tariffs and uneven service performance, indicating that further harmonization efforts are needed.
ARCEP continues to work toward equitable pricing and improved service quality to help build a more cohesive and accessible digital ecosystem across West Africa.
