Ouagadougou bolsters national expertise with new networking initiative

The Agency for the Promotion of National Expertise (APEN) hosted an information session on September 3, 2025 aimed at enhancing the visibility and influence of Burkinabe experts both nationally and internationally.
Executive Secretary Sylvie Méda stated that the event focused on two key themes: the creation of expert clubs and networks, and membership in international committees. “We encouraged experts to organize by field of competence to develop synergies, build partnerships, and seize available opportunities,” she explained.
Méda also emphasized the importance of informing professionals about existing international committees, along with their access conditions and required qualifications.

The goal is to ensure increased Burkinabe representation in these decision-making bodies through recognized expertise.
She noted that Burkinabe expertise is already known for its rigor and quality but stressed the need to further promote this know-how on the global stage.
One of the workshop speakers, Ismaël Sawadogo, highlighted the benefits of forming and managing expert clubs. “Networking enables not only the pooling of skills but also strengthens the influence and representativeness of our experts,” he said.
Through this initiative, APEN aims to better organize local experts and open new pathways for their integration into major international institutions.
