Inter Miami: Suárez under scrutiny after apparent spitting Incident in Leagues Cup Final

Inter Miami’s Luis Suárez is at the center of controversy following an apparent spitting incident after his team’s 3-0 loss to the Seattle Sounders in the Leagues Cup final.

Video footage circulating on social media appears to show the Uruguayan striker lean toward a Sounders staff member and spit in his direction during a heated post-match altercation. Teammate Oscar Ustari quickly intervened to separate the parties.

This incident evokes a notorious chapter in Suárez’s past, recalling his suspension for biting Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini during the 2014 World Cup.

Seattle coach Brian Schmetzer addressed the event, stating, “That shouldn’t be the story… Their players were frustrated and that led to some things happening on the field that shouldn’t happen.” He emphasized that the focus should remain on his team’s victorious performance.

A Leagues Cup spokesperson confirmed the organizing committee will review the incidents and “proceed accordingly,” with no timeline given for the decision. The review could potentially result in disciplinary action for the veteran forward.
