Football/ Transfert: Donnarumma to Manchester City in historic deadline day move

Gianluigi Donnarumma is set to complete a move to Manchester City this Monday, ending his three-year spell at Paris Saint-Germain. The 26-year-old Italian goalkeeper, deemed surplus to requirements following the arrival of Lucas Chevalier, will replace the departing Ederson.

The Brazilian shot-stopper is expected to finalize a transfer to Turkish side Fenerbahçe, paving the way for Donnarumma’s switch to the Premier League champions.

This transaction marks a significant moment, being the first direct transfer between Manchester City and PSG since the two clubs came under Emirati (2008) and Qatari (2011) ownership.

Donnarumma, who arrived on a free transfer from AC Milan in 2021, was the starting goalkeeper for PSG’s historic first Champions League victory.

He made 161 appearances for the French club before being phased out by manager Luis Enrique this season. He now becomes the latest addition to City’s squad, following the signing of goalkeeper James Trafford from Burnley.
