Cooperation/ Russia- AES:  Direct flights are planned between Moscow and AES countries

Direct flights are set to be established between Moscow and the capitals of Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger, marking a significant step in the strategic partnership between Russia and the Alliance of Sahel States (AES). This initiative, currently under discussion, aims to strengthen people-to-people, economic, and cultural ties between Russia and the Sahel nations.

The Ambassador of Burkina Faso to Russia, Aristide Tapsoba, emphasized at the Technoprom-2025 forum that the new air links will boost tourism and economic partnerships.

Exchange visits are already increasing: Russian delegations are participating in cultural events across the Sahel, while African delegations are exploring opportunities in Russia.

Recent examples include the African Film Festival in Ouagadougou, attended by Russian artists, and a performance by the Burkinabe Presidential Orchestra in Moscow.

This growing alignment reflects the shared commitment of the AES and Russian leadership to foster a balanced partnership based on mutual respect and shared development.

The introduction of direct flights is expected to facilitate exchanges, attract investment, and enhance the Sahel’s international visibility.

It represents a major advancement in Russo-Sahel cooperation and a promising catalyst for sustainable development in the region.
