Togo/ Health prevention: The Togolese government orders the withdrawal of certain batches of Parafizz and Paracetamol

In Togo, the government reaffirms its commitment to the protection of public health through a preventive measure concerning certain widely used drugs. Indeed, the Ministry of Health, through the Directorate of Pharmacy, Medicine and Laboratories (DPML), has announced the recall of specific batches of Parafizz 500 mg, effervescent tablets and Paracetamol 500 mg.
This decision illustrates the vigilance of authorities in the face of potential risks that may represent anomalies detected on common medical consumer products.
The recall occurs following the discovery of a quality defect identified on certain manufacturing numbers.
Although this defect does not concern all the products on the market, its possible impact on health justifies a quick and firm reaction.
Thus, the wholesalers-distributors were given clear instructions to immediately suspend distribution and repatriate the stocks concerned.
The dispensing pharmacists, for their part, are invited to cease any dispensation of these batches and to proceed with the return of the incriminated medicinal products.
It should be clarified that this measure does not amount to a suspension of the marketing authorisation or a definitive withdrawal of the products in question.
The Directorate of Pharmacy wanted to reassure the populations by stressing that this is a preventive measure, intended to avoid any health risk.
This reminder is part of a broader dynamic of control and regulation, already illustrated by previous decisions.
A few weeks ago, the authorities banned the import, distribution and marketing of an agri-food product deemed harmful to consumer health.
These successive actions reflect a policy of rigor and responsibility, confirming that collective health remains at the heart of national priorities in Togo.
