Burkina Faso/ Prime Minister begins landmark visit to Mali, strengthening AES Alliance

The Prime Minister of Burkina Faso, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, began a significant working and friendship visit to Mali on Tuesday at the invitation of his Malian counterpart, Major General Abdoulaye Maïga.

Upon arrival, Ouédraogo was welcomed by the Malian head of government and several cabinet members.

His delegation included the Minister Delegate for the Budget, the Minister of Youth and Employment, and key advisors.

A central point of the visit is his participation in commemorating the second anniversary of Mali’s “Citizen Brigade,” an initiative launched to promote civic engagement, social cohesion, and patriotic duty.

The organization is seen as a vital tool for mobilizing citizens in response to the country’s security and social challenges.

The Prime Minister’s agenda also includes an audience with the President of the Transition, General Assimi Goïta, and a working session between the two delegations aimed at exploring new avenues for bilateral cooperation.

Beyond strengthening ties between the two nations, the visit underscores the shared commitment of Mali and Burkina Faso alongside Niger to deepen solidarity within the Sahel States Alliance (AES).

The regional confederation continues to emerge as a key instrument for political, security, and economic integration in a context defined by the fight against terrorism and the pursuit of sovereign development pathways.
