Enhanced cooperation: Mali and the United Arab Emirates seal eleven strategic agreements

The second session of the Mali-United Arab Emirates (UAE) Joint Cooperation Commission concluded with the signing of eleven partnership agreements covering key areas such as security, agriculture, energy and transport.
The Malian delegation, led by Foreign Minister Abdoulaye Diop, emphasised the strengthening of diplomatic, security and economic ties between Bamako and Abu Dhabi. Particular attention was paid to mining, agro-industry and renewable energies, a sector deemed strategic for both countries.
Alongside the commission, an economic forum brought together Malian operators and Emirati investors.
The discussions culminated in the signing of a partnership protocol between the Malian Chamber of Commerce and its Emirati counterpart, paving the way for increased trade.
Already involved in Mali’s energy sector, the Emirates offered to step up this collaboration, particularly with a view to the International Conference on Water scheduled for Dakar in 2026.
For Bamako, this convergence represents a strategic opportunity to promote its national interests and attract new investment in key development sectors.
