Mali / Army General Assimi GOÏTA at the bedside of the most vulnerable: Concrete actions for artisans

Across the national territory, the social initiatives of the President of the Transition, His Excellency General Assimi GOÏTA, continue to expand with precision and tangible impact. On Friday, July 18, 2025, another significant step was taken with the distribution of solar kits to Malian artisans. This initiative, led by Mr. Aguibou DEMBELE, the operational arm of the social projects, was celebrated during a ceremony chaired by the Minister of Handicrafts, Culture, Hospitality Industry, and Tourism, Mr. Mamou DAFFE. It forms part of a broader policy promoting energy resilience and the enhancement of the artisanal sector, a cornerstone of the informal economy.

President GOÏTA’s commitment to making 2025 “the year of culture” is more than just a slogan. It is being realized through concrete actions, particularly in support of artisans who are among the hardest hit by energy insecurity. These artisans—ranging from tailors and hairdressers to blacksmiths and carpenters—can now carry out their work under improved conditions thanks to modern, autonomous solar equipment. The goal is to boost their productivity while ensuring energy self-sufficiency.

This program, envisioned since December 2024, aims to meet the specific needs of artisans in light of frequent power outages. The kits, with capacities ranging from 5 to 25 KVA, include solar panels, lithium batteries, and inverters to ensure safe and sustainable use. Beneficiaries were carefully selected in collaboration with local Chambers of Trades, reflecting a commitment to fairness and transparency. This inclusive approach was widely praised, notably by Ms. Fatoumata Zayra, a dye artisan, who expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of her community.

By continuing to direct social efforts toward strategic sectors, General Assimi GOÏTA reaffirms his dedication to the well-being of the most vulnerable populations. Artisanship, as a vehicle for cultural identity and economic resilience, is now receiving tangible support from the state. This initiative reflects continuity in the President’s commitments and paves the way for future actions essential to local development and the preservation of traditional knowledge.
