Niger: Fight against terrorism/The Nigerien army scores a decisive victory in the west of the country

The Nigerien Armed Forces have once again demonstrated their unwavering commitment to defending the nation’s territory amid persistent terrorist threats. In a large-scale military operation in western Niger, more than 30 terrorists were neutralized.
The operation, conducted between Djoundiou and Karakara, targeted emerging criminal networks in the process of consolidation.
Supported by heavy artillery fire and precise operational coordination, the offensive successfully disrupted multiple hostile cells.
Subsequent military actions in the Touloun Boulou area led to the elimination of two additional militants and the arrest of two suspected accomplices.
This operation underscores the Nigerien military’s relentless efforts in the fight against violent extremism.
It sends a clear message of a resolute Niger, standing firm in defense of its sovereignty and the security of its citizens even in the most vulnerable regions.
Notable successes have also been achieved in Bamako and Ouagadougou. Along the Malian border, several attempted infiltrations were thwarted, weapons caches uncovered, and recruitment cells dismantled exposing internal complicity.
Across the Sahel, the unified counteroffensives of the AES (Alliance of Sahel States) forces continue to intensify, striking decisive blows against terrorist elements.
