Club World Cup opener/ Flamengo dominates Esperance Tunis

Esperance Tunis got off to a disappointing start in the Club World Cup, falling 2-0 to Brazil’s Flamengo in their Group D opener. The Tunisian side struggled to contain Flamengo’s attacking prowess, with De Arrascaeta breaking the deadlock in the 16th minute.

Araujo, who provided the assist for the first goal, sealed the victory with a second strike in the 70th minute.

Meanwhile, Chelsea secured a comfortable 2-0 win over Los Angeles FC, putting them level with Flamengo at the top of the group.

Esperance Tunis, now at the bottom, faces a must-win clash against Los Angeles in their next match to keep their tournament hopes alive.

The defeat highlights the gap between African champions and South America’s elite, as Esperance failed to threaten Flamengo’s defense. With elimination looming, the Tunisian giants must regroup quickly to salvage their campaign.
