Trump reportedly blocked Israeli plan to assassinate Iran’s supreme leader

U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly rejected an Israeli proposal to assassinate Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to CBS News. Officials revealed Trump told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu the plan was “not a good idea” following Israel’s initial strikes on Iran last Friday.

Netanyahu, when questioned by Fox News, neither confirmed nor denied the report, stating, “There are so many false reports… I’m not going to get into that.”

An Israeli official later clarified that Israel “does not kill political leaders,” focusing instead on nuclear and military targets.

Tensions remain high as Israel and Iran exchange strikes for a third consecutive day.

Trump urged de-escalation on Truth Social, suggesting a deal between the two nations, while reaffirming U.S. support for Israel.

Meanwhile, planned U.S.-Iran nuclear talks were canceled after Tehran refused to negotiate under ongoing attacks.

Trump denied U.S. involvement in Israel’s initial strike but warned Iran of devastating retaliation if American forces were targeted.
