Burkina Faso: Industrial gold production to rise to 55.7 tonnes by 2025

The Burkinabe mining sector continues its positive momentum. According to official forecasts, industrial gold production is expected to reach 55.7 tons in 2025, compared to 53.3 tons in 2024—an increase of 4%.

This performance confirms the resilience and attractiveness of Burkina Faso’s gold sector, despite a challenging security and economic context. It reflects the government’s efforts to secure mining sites, improve sector governance, and encourage investment in exploration and production.

Burkina Faso remains one of the leading gold producers in Africa, and this dynamism strengthens its strategic position on international markets. Gold also serves as a major source of public revenue, direct and indirect job creation, and stands as a key pillar of the national economy.

The expected increase in production aligns fully with President Ibrahim Traoré’s sovereignist vision, which places the development of national resources at the heart of his economic reconstruction strategy.
