AES Confederation/ Defence: Burkina Faso at the head of the concertation framework, the country’s capacities highlighted

The rotating presidency of the Consultation Framework for Strategic Studies Centers within the AES Confederation has been entrusted to Burkina Faso at a time of significant security, economic, and political challenges. Brigadier General Barthélémy Simporé of Burkina Faso will assume this role for a one-year term, succeeding his Malian counterpart, Brigadier General Satigui Sidibé.

General Simporé’s ability to navigate complex situations has been widely acknowledged, particularly given his previous collaboration with his Malian counterpart.

Now, he is tasked with addressing the pressing security and development challenges facing the AES Confederation. The strategic direction he defines must align with the aspirations of the populations within this shared regional space.

Burkina Faso’s extensive experience in confronting terrorism and socio-economic challenges is an invaluable asset.

This expertise is expected to be leveraged to enhance the Confederation’s initiatives and bolster collective efforts.

Established in 2020, the Consultation Framework for Strategic Studies Centers has recently been revitalized to align with the Alliance’s vision and evolving geopolitical realities.

As part of this effort, a tripartite memorandum of understanding between Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger under the AES Confederation was revised and signed.

This initiative strengthens the Confederation’s foundation, equipping leaders with the necessary tools to consolidate past achievements and pursue even greater successes for the benefit of their people.
