Boxing: Daniel Dubois forced to withdraw from his IBF world-title defense against Parker

Daniel Dubois has been forced to withdraw from his IBF world-title defense against Joseph Parker just two days before their scheduled bout in Saudi Arabia.
The 27-year-old Briton fell ill and underwent medical evaluation, missing Thursday’s press conference before being officially pulled from the fight later that evening. No details about the nature of his illness have been disclosed.
In a last-minute reshuffle, Parker will now face Congolese heavyweight Martin Bakole, a formidable replacement with a record of 21 wins and one loss. Bakole, based in Scotland, is known for his power, boasting 16 knockouts in 22 fights.

Parker, 33, expressed disappointment but understanding, stating, « If you’re sick, don’t fight. Go out there when you’re at peak condition and put on your best performance. » Dubois, who won the IBF title earlier this year, had been set to make his second defense after stopping Anthony Joshua in September.
The bout was part of a stacked card headlined by the undisputed light-heavyweight clash between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol. While Bakole-Parker remains a compelling matchup, Dubois’ withdrawal is a blow to British boxing fans.
This marks the second high-profile withdrawal this week, underscoring the unpredictability of the sport.
Despite the setback, the event still promises fireworks, with Beterbiev-Bivol II taking center stage as one of the most anticipated fights of the year.
