Cameroon: Fecafoot denies allegations of age cheating by Indomitable Lion Cubs

The Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot) has strongly reacted to accusations made by the Central African Republic’s U17 coach, who questioned the age of Cameroonian players following their 9-0 victory in the UNIFFAC qualifiers for the U17 Africa Cup of Nations.

In a statement released on Tuesday, February 18, Fecafoot dismissed the claims as « false, defamatory, and outrageous, » emphasizing that all players underwent MRI tests supervised by the Central African Football Federations’ Union (UNIFFAC).

Fecafoot expressed « astonishment » at what it described as insulting and damaging statements aimed at tarnishing Cameroon’s sporting integrity.

The federation announced it would refer the matter to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for investigation and potential sanctions.

It also praised its U17 team for responding to the controversy with an outstanding performance on the field.

This dispute highlights the ongoing sensitivity around age verification in African football. Cameroon, determined to protect its reputation, is seeking to resolve the issue through official channels.
