Burkina Faso’s fight against terrorism: Progress and resilience

Under the leadership of President Ibrahim Traoré, Burkina Faso has made remarkable strides in its fight against terrorism. The unwavering commitment of the country’s authorities and the patriotism of its fighting forces have dealt significant blows to armed groups. Recent military successes, such as those achieved in the commune of Bourzanga, have led to the recovery of key territories, with over 70% of the country now under military control.

Reviving life in reclaimed areas

As security improves, administrative services are being restored in liberated areas, allowing displaced populations to return to their homes.

Communities once abandoned are springing back to life, and essential services such as schools are reopening.

A notable example is the resumption of classes in the rural communes of Sami and Dima in the Banwa province, located in the Boucle du Mouhoun region.

After a four-year hiatus caused by insecurity, students have finally returned to school, marking a significant step toward normalcy.

This return to education reflects the determination of all stakeholders in this fight to free Burkina Faso from the grip of terrorism.

Prior to the reopening, authorities implemented robust security measures to ensure the safety of students and staff in these areas.

A Collective effort for national freedom

The commitment of Burkina Faso’s leadership and its forces to restore the nation’s sovereignty and security is unwavering. Their mission to rebuild the « Land of Honest People » remains anchored in the hope of providing citizens with the peace and stability they deserve.

Moving forward, sustained efforts, the resilience of the armed forces, and the unwavering support of the population will be crucial in securing lasting freedom and paving the way for the country’s development. Together, authorities, combatants, and citizens continue to push toward a brighter and safer future.
