Togo: President Faure Gnassingbé inaugurates a new era for the health system in Kara

In recent years, Togo’s President, H.E. Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, has been steadfast in driving significant reforms to transform the nation’s healthcare system. On Friday, January 24, 2025, the President officially inaugurated the Kara annex of the Dogta-Lafiè referral hospital, a state-of-the-art level-4 medical facility marking a milestone in the country’s healthcare development.

This new facility, equipped with cutting-edge medical technologies, represents a transformative step toward providing quality healthcare, particularly for communities in northern Togo.

It underscores President Faure Gnassingbé’s unwavering commitment to building an inclusive and efficient health system.

The hospital aligns with the ambitious vision of the Government Roadmap 2020-2025, which prioritizes achieving universal health coverage.

The initiative also includes the training and recruitment of skilled healthcare professionals to ensure top-notch services for patients.

This project complements several other key reforms, including the modernization of regional health centers, the provision of free essential medical services, and the consistent supply of medicines in public facilities.

By strengthening the health sector’s capacity, President Gnassingbé aims to reduce disparities in healthcare access and position Togo as a leader in West Africa’s health landscape.

The opening of the Dogta-Lafiè annex in Kara reflects a significant stride toward this vision, reinforcing public trust in the government’s initiatives for a healthier, more prosperous Togo.
