Burkina Faso strengthens ties with Saudi Arabia under President Traoré’s leadership

Under the leadership of President Ibrahim Traoré, Burkina Faso continues to diversify its international partnerships, enhancing its global standing. On Friday, January 17, 2025, Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo hosted Saudi Arabia’s ambassador, Fahad A. Aldosari, to discuss collaborative projects aimed at deepening the longstanding relationship between the two nations and exploring new avenues for cooperation.

The Saudi ambassador conveyed greetings from Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Abdulaziz Al-Saud and reaffirmed his country’s commitment to supporting Burkina Faso.

Key initiatives highlighted included a health caravan providing care for children with congenital heart conditions and a donation of 50 tons of dates from King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud.

These contributions underscore Saudi Arabia’s dedication to initiatives that directly benefit the Burkinabè population, reflecting a bond of solidarity dating back to the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1965.

This meeting underscores Burkina Faso’s strategic approach to international relations, which prioritizes mutual respect and fraternity.

By expanding its network of alliances, the country is unlocking diverse opportunities that support its social and economic development goals, demonstrating the tangible outcomes of its proactive foreign policy.
