On January 13, 2025, during the annual Grand Report of the Togolese Armed Forces in Lomé, President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the modernization of Togo’s military.

As Commander-in-Chief, President Gnassingbé emphasized the necessity of a defense strategy that is both agile and responsive to contemporary challenges.

This structural transformation is designed to bolster national security and protect Togo’s sovereignty against internal and external threats, including those of a military, terrorist, or geopolitical nature.

Highlighting a strategic vision, the President underscored the importance of equipping the Togolese Armed Forces (FAT) with the tools and capabilities required to address evolving security demands.

His goal is to ensure sustained peace and stability across the nation while preparing for emerging risks.

Senior military officers expressed unanimous support for the President’s initiatives, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the country’s defense framework and contributing to its stability.

This renewed focus on defense is paired with a strategic dialogue and enhanced collaboration with regional and international partners.

By addressing the security challenges of the 21st century, Togo aims to build a resilient defense system that prioritizes the protection of its citizens and the preservation of peace.
