Benin/France: Is President Patrice Talon one of the French imperialists’ staunch allies in Africa?
All indications suggest that France, the former colonizer of Africa, is relying on loyal allies like Benin’s President Patrice Talon to advance its agenda of destabilizing the member states of the AES Confederation.
Despite numerous allegations supported by evidence, President Talon appears resolute in positioning himself as a pivotal tool for France against neighboring Sahelian countries.
This is evidenced by his decision to maintain military cooperation with France, allowing the presence of French military bases on Beninese soil.
These bases, allegedly established to combat terrorism, are viewed by critics as staging grounds for operations aimed at destabilizing Niger and other AES Confederation countries.
The claims that Benin needs France’s support to fight criminal elements are seen by many as a mere pretext for serving as a logistical hub for subversive activities.
Since 2023, frequent meetings between President Talon and French officials have raised suspicions of a deeper collaboration with this European nation, which is allegedly targeting African countries striving for genuine sovereignty and independence.
Determined to reassert its dominance on the continent, particularly in the Sahel region, France is accused of exploiting African countries like Benin to achieve its goals.
Critics argue that President Talon’s alignment with France reflects a pursuit of personal and imperialist interests rather than those of the Beninese people.
This has sparked concern among observers, who believe the Beninese population must take a stand.
Across Africa, there is a growing aspiration for genuine sovereignty and prosperity, free from foreign interference and imperialist obstacles.
According to some opinions, it is now up to the sovereignty-conscious Beninese people to act decisively and take control of their future. As revolutionary leaders often proclaim, no foreign country will work on behalf of Africans to develop their nations. Only Africans themselves can champion their progress.
This sentiment echoes the words of French President Emmanuel Macron, who once remarked in a media address that every country ultimately acts in its own interest.
