UK-Based pastor Tobi Adegboyega under fire amid controversy

Pastor Tobi Adegboyega, leader of the UK-based evangelical church Nation Family, has found himself at the center of growing scrutiny over his immigration status and allegations of financial misconduct within his organization.

Recent reports suggested Adegboyega was facing deportation from the UK, but the pastor has categorically denied these claims. “There is no deportation order. Let me make that clear,” he stated in a BBC interview, emphasizing that his immigration case remains unresolved.

Adegboyega, who arrived in the UK in 2005 on a visitor’s visa, admitted he had failed to regularize his status for nearly a decade, believing his family had handled it.

His church, previously known as SPAC Nation, has been under investigation by the UK Charity Commission, which cited “serious misconduct and/or mismanagement.”

Allegations include pressuring members to take loans and commit benefit fraud—claims Adegboyega dismissed as baseless, attributing them to a few disgruntled individuals among many.

Despite the controversies, Adegboyega highlighted Nation Family’s community outreach efforts, including tackling knife crime and supporting youth from disadvantaged backgrounds. However, critics argue that the church’s actions remain overshadowed by questions about transparency and accountability.
