Burkina Faso: A trade surplus despite the security situation under President Ibrahim Traoré

Under the leadership of President Ibrahim Traoré, Burkina Faso has achieved remarkable economic progress, highlighted by a trade surplus of 232.10 billion FCFA in the second quarter of 2024, as reported by the National Institute of Statistics and Demography (INSD).

This achievement reflects prudent economic management and policies focused on resilience, positioning the economy as a cornerstone of the country’s recovery.

Central to this success is a focus on adding value to local raw materials, exemplified by the establishment of a tomato processing plant in Bobo-Dioulasso.

This initiative has significantly boosted the nation’s exports, which reached 2,689.2 billion FCFA by October 2024, marking a 24% increase compared to the previous year.

Such growth underscores Burkina Faso’s ability to harness its resources, diversify trade, and enhance the competitiveness of its goods on the global stage.

By prioritizing productive economic policies, President Traoré is proving that even amidst challenges like conflict, a nation can drive significant change.

These achievements are not merely economic statistics but represent a broader commitment to building a robust and sustainable economy that advances Burkina Faso’s development and strengthens its sovereignty.
