Football/ Alban Lafont and the Stallions: FBF denies financial demands rumors

Alban Lafont, the 25-year-old FC Nantes goalkeeper with dual French and Burkinabè nationality, has once again become a topic of discussion in Burkina Faso’s football circles. Speculation surrounding his potential integration into the national team recently escalated after a local media report claimed his entourage had made significant financial demands to the Burkinabe Football Federation (FBF). However, the FBF has swiftly refuted these allegations, aiming to set the record straight.

In an official statement, the FBF expressed disappointment at the unfounded rumors and their negative impact on the player and his family.

« Recent claims about Alban Lafont’s financial demands to join the Stallions are baseless, » the statement read. « The Federation reaffirms its commitment to welcoming any eligible Burkinabe talent capable of strengthening the national team, without attaching any monetary conditions to their selection. »

The FBF further emphasized that their doors remain open to dual-national players like Lafont, whose skills could enhance the Stallions’ performance on the international stage.

The Federation also highlighted its transparent approach in reaching out to prospective players, dismissing the notion of financial incentives as contrary to its values.

With the FBF’s clarification, attention now shifts back to Lafont’s career and his potential contribution to Burkina Faso’s football ambitions.

While the rumors may have sparked debate, the Federation’s firm stance ensures that the focus remains on merit and talent, not controversy.
