Niger: Four private airfields soon to support the oil pipeline to Benin

Niger is taking significant steps towards strategic development by announcing the construction of four private airstrips to support the operation of an oil pipeline connecting the country to Benin. This decision was officially confirmed during the latest Cabinet meeting, chaired by President Abdourahmane Tiani.

These airstrips, designed exclusively for private activities, are aimed at addressing logistical needs related to the management and transportation of petroleum resources.

They will also play a crucial role in ensuring the security and coordination of operations along the 2,000 kilometers of the pipeline, which is a key project for Niger’s ambition to become a major player in West Africa’s energy sector.

The oil pipeline project, linking Niger’s oil fields to Benin’s ports, marks a turning point for the country’s economy. It is expected to significantly boost crude oil exports and, consequently, national revenue.

In this context, the airstrips will enhance operational management and strengthen the logistical network, particularly in remote areas, ensuring smooth operations throughout the pipeline’s extensive route.
