AFCON 2025 Qualifiers: Namibia holds Cameroon to a goalless draw in Johannesburg

In a match lacking spark, Namibia and Cameroon drew 0-0 on Wednesday in Johannesburg, as part of the fifth round of qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Cameroon, who had already secured their qualification prior to this game, showed little creativity, particularly in the first half, and struggled to break through a well-organized Namibian defense.

Namibia, despite enduring four consecutive losses in the group, put on a resilient display, managing to secure their first point of the campaign.

This result marks a small yet encouraging achievement for the Namibian squad, who have faced a challenging journey in these qualifiers.

Cameroon remains at the top of Group J with 11 points, but their position is not entirely secure. Zimbabwe, currently trailing in the standings, could potentially overtake them if they manage a win against Kenya in their upcoming match.

Though not the most memorable performance for Marc Brys and his team, Cameroon will move forward with an eye on their campaign’s continuation, while Namibia celebrates a hard-earned draw and a sign of progress.
