Burkina Faso: Second consecutive victory for Anton Popov in the Tour du Faso
The Tour International du Faso continues to thrill cycling enthusiasts with impressive performances. On Monday, Russian cyclist Anton Popov clinched victory in the fourth stage, a challenging 129.1 km stretch from Réo to Boromo.
Crossing the finish line in 2 hours, 47 minutes, and 49 seconds, Popov claimed his second consecutive win in this year’s race, underscoring his team’s tactical dominance.
The Russian squad skillfully controlled the race to set up an ideal opportunity for their sprinter, who seized the moment in the final 100 meters to secure the win.
Close on his heels, Morocco’s El Arbaoui Adil put up a fierce fight, narrowly missing the victory in the last sprint.
Burkina Faso’s own Souleymane Koné also delivered a solid performance, taking third place and keeping the host nation represented among the top finishers.
Since its inception in 1987, Boromo has hosted 29 stage finishes, cementing its place in West African cycling history.
Burkina Faso boasts 8 stage wins in the town, while France and Germany have claimed 6 and 4, respectively.
The variety of winners highlights the Tour’s international appeal, as each team brings its unique skills and strategies to the competition.
