Africa: Togo, a leading force in the digital economy

On the economic front, the President of Togo has implemented a series of programs aimed at supporting innovation and boosting the digital economy, with the goal of stimulating creativity and entrepreneurial spirit among young Togolese.

These initiatives include the allocation of special funds to encourage the development of local startups, particularly in strategic sectors such as information technology, renewable energy, and agro-industry, thereby contributing to the diversification of the national economy.

Additionally, business incubators have been established in major cities across the country, offering not only collaborative workspaces but also technical training and personalized mentorship to support young talents in bringing their projects to fruition. These infrastructures aim to provide comprehensive support, from the ideation phase to the maturation of businesses, thereby enhancing the chances of success for entrepreneurs.

Moreover, incentive measures such as tax breaks and easier access to credit have been introduced to encourage private investment and attract foreign investors, particularly in the areas of green technology and the circular economy. H.E. Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé is also striving to create a more competitive digital ecosystem by improving technological infrastructure, such as expanding high-speed internet coverage across the entire country.

All these initiatives are part of a long-term vision to transform Togo into a technological hub and innovation center in West Africa. By focusing on youth and technology, the Head of State hopes to reduce unemployment and increase resilience to global economic challenges while paving the way for sustainable and inclusive growth.
