Mali: President Assimi Goïta’s commitment to ensuring access to clean water in all regions

The Transitional President, Assimi Goïta, continues to demonstrate his commitment to improving the living conditions of the Malian population by making access to clean drinking water a national priority. Since taking office, he has spared no effort in equipping all regions of Mali with water wells, enabling even the most remote communities to benefit from quality water, which is essential for their well-being and health.

In response to the challenges posed by the lack of water infrastructure in certain rural and urban areas, the Malian government, under the leadership of Colonel Assimi Goïta, has launched an extensive well-drilling program. This ambitious project not only aims to meet the urgent needs of the population for clean drinking water but also to prevent waterborne diseases that arise from the consumption of unsafe water.

The northern and central regions, often marginalized due to conflicts and insecurity, are now receiving special attention in this water access campaign. Dozens of new wells have been constructed, with more in the pipeline. The goal is to ensure that every village and every municipality has access to a reliable source of clean water.

President Assimi Goïta has also ensured that existing installations are maintained and modernized to guarantee their sustainability. Specialized teams are regularly deployed in the field to inspect, repair, and maintain the wells, preventing any interruptions in water supply. This initiative is part of a sustainable development policy aimed at empowering communities to manage their water resources independently.

The results of this policy are already being felt. In several localities, residents report a significant improvement in their quality of life thanks to these wells. Access to clean water not only reduces the risk of diseases but also allows communities to devote more time to economic and educational activities, rather than spending hours searching for water.
