USA: Tinashe surprised by ‘Nasty’ success
While working on « Nasty », Tinashe didn’t anticipate a swift success. However, the American artist was pleasantly surprised by the warm reception the song received from both the public and her industry peers.
Released in April 2024, « Nasty » is the first single from her new album, « Quantum Baby ». The song reached number 61 on the Billboard 100.
« I was so excited to see how everyone was reacting to Nasty. I love this track. I think it really represents me. So it’s always exciting to see this kind of song generating interest online. You never really know when it’s going to happen. You can’t really predict it, you can’t force it. So it’s a blessing and something that excites me immensely, » Tinashe shared.
« Quantum Baby », with its eight tracks, is Tinashe’s seventh studio album. The artist hopes it will allow fans to discover a side of her they haven’t seen before.
« I think this second part of the trilogy is really focused on a deeper understanding of myself and the Quantum Baby or BB/ANG3L (Baby Angel) universe. I think the first part really set the tone, and now we’re going further and further, and that’s super exciting…. And this project, ‘Quantum Baby,’ is the second part of a three-part album that I’m releasing. … I think it’s a really special project, and I can’t wait for people to hear the next one. But it’s truly extraordinary to have creative control, to refine my sound, and to do what feels right at the moment », explained the American artist. What often also appeals to this 31-year-old American is fashion. For her, it’s a form of expression.
« I think fashion is a very interesting way to express oneself, and it adds a whole new dimension to how people perceive you. That’s why I really enjoy playing with these perceptions and ideas in my music videos, concerts, and outfits. I think it’s very interesting as an artist because you have the opportunity to paint pictures of what you want people to take away from a particular project. You can change the way you dress, act, and fashion is a very fun way to play with that, in a very visual and literal way », Tinashe explained.
The artist was born in the United States to a father from Zimbabwe, while her mother is of Irish, Norwegian, and Danish descent.
