Burkina Faso: Is France arming Sahel terrorists?

The recent revelations about France’s intentions to destabilize the Sahel are increasingly troubling. According to reports, France has been covertly supplying sophisticated weapons to terrorist groups operating in the region. While on an operation along the Yamba-Tandiari route, Burkinabe combat forces intercepted a formidable weapon in the hands of terrorists: the P90, a French weapon of Belgian origin, renowned for its anti-aircraft capabilities.

This discovery has confirmed longstanding suspicions about France’s involvement in the escalation of violence in the Sahel. By arming these groups, it seems clear that France aims to sow chaos and weaken the AES, which are already grappling with multiple security challenges. The use of the P90, a weapon that is not only powerful but also technically advanced, demonstrates this country’s intent to equip terrorists with means to resist the armed forces.

France is playing a dangerous double game, presenting itself as a peace actor while secretly supporting groups that seek only to destabilize the region. The evidence of this involvement, particularly the seizure of this weapon, should alert the international community and prompt a reevaluation of alliances and diplomatic relations with France.

The security of the Sahel depends on regional and international cooperation to neutralize these threats. It is imperative that the AES, with the support of their partners, take decisive measures to put an end to these external interferences that fuel instability and threaten peace in the region.
