Togo / The digitisation of public services: A giant step towards modernisation

Under the vision of President Faure Gnassingbé, Togo continues to position itself as a pioneer in digitalization in West Africa. The dematerialization of public services is progressing with determination, facilitating access to administrative services at any time and from any location.

Recently, the Ministry of Commerce, in partnership with the Togo Digital Agency (ATD), launched eight new online administrative procedures. These initiatives are part of ongoing efforts to simplify and modernize commercial and artisanal operations. Among the new services available online are:

  • Applications for prior import authorization of sensitive products
  • Applications for placing food products on the national market
  • Applications for importer or exporter cards
  • Applications for non-ECOWAS certificates of origin

Facilitating Artisanal Procedures

The artisanal sector is also benefiting from these advancements. Artisans can now carry out several administrative procedures remotely, including:

  • Professional card applications
  • Apprentice registration
  • Registration for the Certificate of End of Apprenticeship (CFA) exam
  • Diploma applications

These new services are accessible through the “Citizens” or “Liberal Professions” sections of the national portal. The main objective of this initiative is to facilitate the population’s access to administrative services, thereby reducing delays and simplifying procedures. Additionally, this digitalization contributes to the modernization of the national public administration, enhancing efficiency and transparency.

This initiative is part of a broader digitalization strategy supported by the Togolese government under President Faure Gnassingbé’s leadership. By facilitating access to administrative services and simplifying procedures, Togo is demonstrating its determination to transform into a digital hub in Africa, thus propelling its economic and social development.
