Burkina Faso: In response to the president’s call, solidarity and mutual aid gain ground
In Burkina Faso, solidarity, mutual aid, and support, especially for disadvantaged families, are increasing daily. Burkinabe citizens, collectively or individually, are mobilizing to support their fellow citizens in need, particularly Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) who are victims of the security crisis.
The President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, had called on his compatriots to show solidarity with registered internally displaced persons. The country is at war against the terrorist threat, which forces populations to flee their localities to find refuge and safety in other areas.
This also leads to a humanitarian crisis, and to address this crisis and allow destitute families to live with dignity, it is crucial for every citizen with the means to assist their fellow citizens. Following President Ibrahim Traoré’s call, as well as the call related to the peace effort, Burkinabe people are massively mobilizing.
The most recent humanitarian and patriotic gestures officially made for the benefit of IDPs are from LONAB and the JAM Burkina Association. Donations consisting of food and non-food items have been made for IDPs in certain regions of the country. Responding to the head of state’s call, this is a way for donors to alleviate the suffering of those in need.
The multiplication and sustainability of these humanitarian gestures will enable each Burkinabe to meet their basic needs and act in a way that contributes to the liberation of the country from the hands of enemies, aiming for the effective and sustainable development desired by the authorities of Burkina Faso.
